I just bought the Maule yesterday and a day later u do 30% off. I feel cheated. This game and its DLC is starting to piss me off. Dont know how much more I can handle now.

Who puts there game on sale when first released? So what does the people who supported Flight in good faith, get?

I spent money on Flight cause I thought it had a chance, now I want my money back.

Steam is a way of distributing the game online. It has 40 million active user accounts, so giving this game more exposure.

Whats really retarded is that they put all the news on here of their lead developers time in the zero but they cant announce that the system is moving to Steam and let unsuspecting customers pay full whack for unfinished cak. To only the next day, put it on sale on Steam. Poor Poor performance. They are a joke to Laminar research for this rubbish rendition of a flight sim.

http://www.x-plane.com/2012/04/press-release-the-bright-shiny-future-of-x-plane/

Im not worried myself about the price drop because Ive supported this sim almost from the beginning. I bought Hawaii adventure pack and the Maule. I do feel for the folk that have just been robbed. I just wish now Microsoft would support their existing customers and give them somethings that they want (fully finished). It states on the welcome page of the game to post Microsoft and tell them what you want to see in the sim. I look here on the news page to see if they have actually ever responded to any feedback and their is nothing.

I just really hope this gets better.

Really? I mean i bought the  pack and maule a while ago and ive gotten use of them i guess, so not to upset about price drop. However if this is how MS Flight is going to proceed with their DLC i shall be waiting until a price drop from now on until i buy ANYTHING.

Way to show the customers who bought your dlc from day 1 of being relased some support.(Sarcasm)

@ tishin

Stop whining, at least we are getting real news now, this game is not a joke, and x plane only puts out an april fools article like that because Flight scares them. Flight has something really special about it, went back to playing fsx recently and it was fun, then i played Flight again and it was so much better! And people whining about the price drop apparently dont live in the real world, this kind of thing happens on steam all the time, and walmart and.... fill in the blank. It happens everywhere. And yes i have played X plane, just the demo, and it was a terrible demo, decent graphics and awful controls. x plane is aimed at the small market of hardcore simmers that just dont do it revenue wise anymore for companys, thats why we will never see fs11. I like how Flight captures the fun and wonder of flying not the boredom like the other ones do.

Anyones games for windowsmarketplace not working? I bought the Maule 2 days ago and I cant even use it because it wont download. I just migrated over to using the game on Steam.  It kept my DLC intact, and all my saves/progress.  It's like I never changed the install.  So I can now continue to enjoy the game, but on my favourite digital platform :)  Thanks Flight team that was actually very seamless =D

And cheated?  Hell no!  The game has picked up on Steam for me where I left off with GFWL.  I'd much rather have things all together on Steam.  This is awesome and more of my friends will get it, and play with me ^^  Especially with the Starter pack =D

When Microsoft said Flight would be fremium, I was ok.

When Microsoft charged 800 points for an additional area to fly, I was ok.

When Microsoft charged ridiculous amounts of money for one airplane, I paid for it.

When Microsoft released Flight on Steam, and charged less for the same things I bought less than a week ago, I give them one last chance.

Microsoft, not all your customers are as forgiving as me. Most are going to get outraged by this and leave. And the ones you were trying to get to join are going to think twice because of the voice of the customers you betrayed.

Overcharge for Alaska, and I will be the most vocal opponent to this shenanigan.

EastCoastGuy
April 3, 2012 7:14 PM

Doesn't surprise me -- They're just reaching out to a new source of buyers.  As far as "Omigosh I paid full price" ... meh. It's not like we're talking hundreds of dollars here.

So quit complaining about it.  More buyers means that future products may be cheaper.

tishin
April 3, 2012 7:55 PM

@MindEraser88

This isnt real news. Its news telling us how they are trying to sell the product to newcomers instead of trying to satisfy the crowd already supporting the product. Flight has nothing special about it. Its not a realistic sim. How can it capture the fun and wonder of flying. I fly commercially in real life and guess what flying under bridges like flight promotes is illegal. There are also no imaginary hoops in the sky to fly through either. Also my license doesn't get upgraded every time I find an aerochache. What is rewarding is completing an instrument approach on minimas. Or handling a gusty crosswind, or successfully completing a forced landing. If you find flying through hoops in a set time rewarding then it says an awful lot about your mentality to what you want from this game.

Also if you actually read my post then you would see that I myself have accepted the price drop  as I have been using the product since almost release date. What I did state was that I feel for the people who have gone out none the wiser and downloaded the game and supporting software only to find out without warning that they could have got it at 30% cheaper.

I would like to see Flight succeed because I do feel it has potential. You can do as much or as little as you want with it. If you want to just fly through hoops then you can. If you want to fly ILS approaches then you should be able to with planes fully equiped for such.

how can i migrate microsoft flight into steam while keeping the DLC/save?

Spartan 0536
April 3, 2012 8:54 PM

MS Flight Team:

This is a VERY VERY enticing offer, well done, however I will no be purchasing it because I still do not have what I would consider a viable passenger/cargo transport aircraft like a King Air or ATR. Once an aircraft like that comes out and hopefully has working GPS and Auto-Pilot systems then I will gladly buy the Hawaii Expansion as well as Alaska if it is available at the time.

MindEraser88
April 3, 2012 9:01 PM

@tishin

Price drop thing really wasnt aimed at you, i see what your saying about ils approaches, and crosswind landings and flight has done a beautiful job on this, havent you completed the rv6 landing challenge where you have to fly by instruments and land in a cat III? It just needs more of this, flying physics are the same on this game as fsx(given you have the assists turned off) and actually compared to flight landing and crosswinds are more of piece of cake in fsx, flight seems much more realistic, But yeah it  does have some stupid fly through hoops, and bridges stuff, but you dont have to do them. But what are talking about is very rewarding to me and flight does it well, but needs more of it. and what i mean about the fun and wonder of flying is, Flight just has a feel to it that you cant get on any flight sim, it feels solid, you can feel the wind beneath your wings if you know what i mean, thus making it feel real for some moments and that is worth gold in a game. But anyway maybe i prejudged you and im sorry, but i get used to seeing negative comments made by simmers, that a apparently are confused between flying in real life and flying in a game, i hate simmers that think they could just go climb into a real 747 and take off. Flight is a game, fsx is just a game. I would love to fly myself one day, but that will probably never happen, so the game that brings even for a second the human dream of flying in reality to me is amazing.

I'm not sure if I'm clear....when going in to new stream website - stream already installed. Then, Play Microsoft Flight - click Play Game then asking do I have Stream and click yes. Then downloading in process since I already had it on computer before this and earn a lot of points, award and more. Will I loose this? Do I need to redownload?

Evan3585
April 3, 2012 11:56 PM

Why couldnt you have warned us loyal customers on here yesterday that you were doing this and having 30% off!!

Starting to get pissed about this game. The more and more DLC will only make people fade a way aside from the hardcore players. Give some content to the people that already bought something to keep us playing and buying more dlc so we dont feel so cheated all the time. Its fine right now but after a year it will slow right down.

BoomerKeith
April 4, 2012 12:04 AM

I purchased and downloaded the Hawaiian pack the first time it became available, and while it would be nice to have taken advantage of a discount, I'm okay with not timing my purchase right.  After-all, I've made good use of the time I've had with the add-ons.

I'm still a little disgruntled about buying a cockpit-less P51 and ZERO, but I have faith that will be remedied soon.

I love Flight so far, and am excited about the upcoming DLC.  If there is one thing I would like to see, it's more communication between the Flight team and the community members (about their specific questions/concerns).  Just to know that you guys are listening to us would go a long way in good will.

In fact, let me know, I could become your first Flight Liaison.  I think it actually has a shot at being a big benefit to helping simmers see that they are being heard, and maybe there are very good reason why things haven't happened, while other things have.

Anyway, I'm off to island hop again.  Just realized I can get out after landing and walk all over the place.  Maybe I'll take a dip in the ocean before bed tonight.

April 4, 2012 1:15 AM

@MindEraser88

Yeah I have completed all of the landing challenges. It is a challenge I will admit flying the approach with a stick and rewarding once complete. The problem is in real life you cant fly a CAT III ILS with an RV6. The CAT III ILS is reserved for the 747, 777 type aircraft capable of auto land.

Anyway aside from the technical side of the saga I feel that the game is empty. Part of the charm of aviation is listening to the Radio chatter, or lining up in a Cessna 152 behind a boeing 737. In flight a lot of the time is spent just flying around an open sky with nothing happening anywhere.

Im not the only one making negative comments. I will stick with the game in the hope that some of the items I would like to see make it in. I would personally like to see a DC3 or similar for Freight, a learjet or citation for passenger flying and a Pitts Special or Extra type aircraft for aerobatics. I would also like to see fully functioning ATC, fully functioning autopilots and AI traffic. I dont care if there is land based traffic. If I want to see cars ill play Grand Theft auto.

However, I will agree with you. I too do get sick of the simmer types who have never experienced real flight and just assume that they could do it because they have landed a computer simulated 747. The simulator doesnt come close to giving you the experience real control of an aircraft does. You should definately try it. I did my PPL whilst only earning 13,000 pound sterling a year. You could also try microlights. Despite their misconception that they are unsafe they are a cheap fun form of aviation. The flexwing microlight especially has been compared to a 3d Motorbike.

Just wanted to say thanks microsoft! just flew a DP from Honolulu, navigated on a victor airway and flew a STAR to the ILS at Kona Int in IMC (below mins but who cares its a game). The physics are so sweet. Oh yeah went out and bought X Plane. That game sucks all you who are threatening to switch to X Plane its not even close to as good as this cockpit-wise and the planes feel like bricks in the air. So happy with Flight, although it would be nice to be able to tweek the weather settings a bit more.

Don't want the Mustang.

Not excited about the Maule.

Whaddya say MS?  Easy money!  Just bought DLC elsewhere for another game.  But I'd buy the Maule at 30% discount if it wasn't bundled with the other stuff that I've already got (or don't want).

SantiTorres1966
April 4, 2012 3:49 AM

30% discount for steam members ... , but I have been here since first day, so, which is my promo?.

How do you treat your loyal customers?.

REALLY DISSAPOINTED WITH MICROSOT. :_(

MattNeffer
April 4, 2012 3:56 AM

Don't be an early adopter if it bothers you to see other people get at a discount what you paid full price for. That's the way it works. You've been playing the game for the past month while others waited. You could have waited too - but then you wouldn't have been able to play the game for the last few weeks. That's the trade-off. Which would you prefer?

And no company is going to announce they have a package discount coming out in a couple of weeks (or days). They'd have no sales in the meantime. If they'd made the announcement the day before you were to make your full price purchase, you'd be happy, but some other guy who bought it the day before would not.

The fact that other people may pay less than you did doesn't alter the value you received for your purchase.

@SantiTorres1966 -

I downloaded MS Flight from Steam, started the game and it automatically logged me in with GFWL client as well.

All progress has been preserved.

The only thing I don't know whether I can uninstall the first instance of MS Flight or not. I will try it sometimes...

UPDATE: I uninstalled the first instance of MS Flight and kept only the Steam version. Progress is still preserved and I see no reason why you couldn't get the Xbox Live achievements as well - after all they are tracked with the GFWL client (which is a part of MS Flight even in the Steam version).

Torg Smith
April 4, 2012 1:14 PM

@xESxThePunisher

If you read the AVSim interview, they say they are probably a couple years out for wide adoption of third party development. They did say they might partner with a couple companies earlier but were not saying they would.

Steam is just a distribution service. Now the Steam Workshop supports distributing third party content, so there is an avenue there.

(I wanted to post it above so its quicker to find.)

I say for all the people that got stuff early on and MADE steam interested we should get SOMETHING that steam players cant get... maybe Alaska early?

Well so much for early adopters with Microsoft getting free-beys like every other company.

I like MS flight but i am not willing to pay 30% above marked price to get something non steam.

SplendidBeauty: Steam and GFWL will use the same saved files for Flight, so they should be recognized on both platforms.

EaterOfFaith
April 5, 2012 2:15 AM

@SplendidBeauty:

They are preserved. Just install MS Flight on Steam, run the game and it will ask you to log in to the GFWL client anyway. Your progress is preserved as they use one source for this data.

After that you can uninstall the first instance of MS Flight and keep only the Steam version.

I don't know squat about steam. I know its a 3rd party distribution service but thats it. So what do I do ? I have all the DLC thats available, (Cept the USELESS Zero & P51). Will I be able to keep my achievements , stats and stuff ? Do I need to re-install the game ??

Like I said I don't know anything about steam, I usually buy the DVD and install.

Thanks to anybody who will help me with this.

Critter.

P.S @MS, Nest time DLC becomes available I thin I will wait a month or so before I buy it so I don't get conned. Thx alot for charging me full price and giving other people discounts.

Here is an idea, how about a free upgrade to anyone who bought the Hawai exp pak before such and such a date, maybe a ?? % off the next DLC which should be a plane or Alaska ??

April 7, 2012 7:12 PM

Hello!

First time flight simulator player and i'm loving it so far. I'm not sure what to do next seeing as how i completed everything on the map. I'm over level 14! I had some non-mimetic ideas that i think would add to this great game engine.

Fantasy locations-

-Giant redwood forests = Massive redwood trees to fly through and dodge with gigantic tree fort landing pads: some small some large.

-Large underground caves with strategically placed lighting (glowing worms, light from vents in the cave ceiling, torches, underground city?!?!) to help the player through!

-a Super massive canyon- Walls too steep/high to climb over, and different pathways to fly through. Not like gradual canyon of hawaii, but like narrow corridors that bank and break off in sever directions.

-Floating islands of pandora or something similar. THAT WOULD BE PRETTY!

-maybe secret locations? how about a wirlpool in the ocean that brings you.... to a under the sea adventure.... just spit balling now i think.

*** To be fair i think the flight dynamics and graphics range is great, but there just isn't much to explore ( i have the hawain adventure pack). It's literally landscape, landscape, and more landscape, which is fine. Alaska looks like more landscape... no bears?

The diversity of things to do is limited to... about 4 (taking off, landing, collecting aerocaches, challenges). Please do not count free mode, because the planes are too slow to explore the low graphic'ed terrains and such. So now im a fan of landing, but im already about to uninstall it =O  . the m-player isn't really m-player. not much interaction, and the map system left me and my mates bickering.

some sort of weapons system of skirmish combat would make this a fun game as well, although i suspect that is not in the scope of this game. If the cities had GTA4's detail, and Flight's games expansiveness, i would be in love.

CRAZED DUCKling

I have Steam and MSFlight but i'm also getting a new PC soon, so I'm gonna re-download flight through steam
